I love walking through the beauty of gardens and how that makes me feel. I’m a big believer in the power of green, and often seek out the splashes of colour that catch my eyes, and I find that inspiring. The Garden Bazaar is a collection of 16 new works and all come complete with beautiful floating frames. The colour palette was inspired by my love for tropical gardens, shapes, and even the patterns in marble. I believe, pink can be a catalyst for creating warmth within our environment (both inside and out). The style of the first 6 paintings in this collection is free, happy, bright and inviting. There are tints and tones of a deep citrus gold and cinnamon, deep indigo, green and a quirky aqua blue. And, all sit beautifully with the warmness of pink. My overall emphasis here, was to create a body of work that could bring colour into homes, and especially in homes (or workplaces) where wall space might be limited. I wanted each viewer to see and feel the movement in, and also enjoy the innocence of each artwork.
The second group of paintings is based on my own reflections, happy memories and nostalgia. These paintings are bright, colourful and contemporary, but also dreamily “imperfect.” Spirited and joyful, these works remind me of people who have a deep passion for growing flowers and gardens. I’ve always adored having an ‘eclectic’ mix of things around me, because they always offer a fabulous source of inspiration. And, having something that’s colourful, quirky and unique always has the capacity to bring a sense of joy to our lives on a daily basis. I have included two more works, inspired by the blues of the Coral Sea and the beauty of “Abalone” seashells, and also a painting titled, "The Odd Pot" which remains my inspiration for this collection. I hope you enjoy "The Garden Bazaar" collection.
