I’m Rachel Ireland Meyers, artist and founder of RIMAAD (an acronym for Rachel Ireland Meyers Art and Design). I’m a colour and pattern loving abstract and impressionist painter living in the northern beaches of Cairns, Far North Queensland, Australia. I am a lover of beautiful gardens and flowers, nature, wildlife and people. Vincent van Gogh said, “There is nothing more truly artistic than to love people,” and that sentiment has always resonated with me. I love encouraging others to bring both colour and nature into their living and work spaces, and I’m an advocate for living sustainably and embracing the practice of slow living. And, through artwork, I hope to invoke a connection for my viewers while also representing the truest version of myself.
Over the years, I have created a lifestyle around my work, thriving on the support of many beautiful and amazing people, the support of my family, the beauty of imperfection, the harmony of mental and physical well-being and embracing the natural world. I am fortunate to live my days surrounded by a unique and stunning natural environment, often waking to the sound of parrots, cockatoos and the calls of imperial pied pigeons. I am able to look at the vistas of the rainforest and the ocean, and I adore the never-ending landscapes of green. And, my artistic practice today is a response to the colours, textures, energies and composition of daily life.
