Tui

I have always loved New Zealand's birdlife and the "Tui" is one of my favourites. Tui have an uncanny ability to mimic noises like mobile phones, doorbells and also unusual snippets of languages. In 2006, I remember reading about one such Tui who spoke to a couple on holiday and would say things like "fe, fi, fo, fum (from Jack and the beanstalk)" and all kinds of other words.

I adore their colouring, and they are often seen sitting on stunning flowering flax bushes. This painting is perfect for the contemporary home, or those who prefer classic styling.
